Step 3: Preview Migration

Nothing has changed in your org yet. SimplePerm shows a detailed dry-run preview of the new permission set so you can review everything before committing.

Reading the Preview​

The preview is organized into collapsible accordion sections -- one per permission type you selected in Step 2. Each header shows the type name and a count badge with the number of permissions in that section.

Click a header to expand it and see the individual permissions.

What You'll See in Each Section​

The layout varies by type:

  • Object Permissions -- table with CRUD columns (Read, Create, Edit, Delete, View All, Modify All). Checkmarks indicate granted access.
  • Field Permissions -- each field listed with Read and Edit flags.
  • System/User Permissions -- permission names with an Enabled indicator.
  • Tab Settings, Access Types, and Visibilities -- relevant items with their status.

Filtering the Preview​

Two tools help you navigate large previews:

  • Show Enabled Only toggle -- On by default. Filters out disabled or unset permissions so you only see what's actually being granted. Turn it off to see everything, including disabled items.
  • Search bar -- Type a keyword to find specific permissions by name. Handy for verifying that a particular object, field, or permission made it in.

Non-Migratable Settings​

At the bottom, you'll see settings that can't be migrated -- profile-only configurations with no permission set equivalent:

  • Login Hours -- Time-based login restrictions
  • Login IP Ranges -- IP-based login restrictions
  • Layout Assignments -- Page layout assignments by record type

They're listed so you know they won't carry over. You'll still need to manage these on the profile.

Take time to review the preview -- it's exactly what your new permission set will contain. If something looks off, click Back to adjust your permission type selections.

Moving Forward​

Click Next when you're satisfied. If a permission set with the same name already exists, you'll land on the conflict resolution step. Otherwise, the wizard skips straight to run.
